DONATE ORGANS, DONATE LIFE

“Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby’s face or love in the eyes of a woman.
Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain.
Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play.
Give my kidneys to the one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week.
Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers.”

-To Remember Me, Robert Noel Test

Arun was their eldest son. A bright youngster, he was studying Civil Engineering at the Satyabhama University, Chennai. Imagine the plight of his parents when they hear the sudden news of his accident and brain death. To decide on donating his organs, to aid the needy, in that moment of grief is something but only a few can do. But, Shri. George and Smt. Thresiamma did precisely that. In the words of Shri. George, his father, “Arun’s organs would have been buried at our local cemetery. Now that we have donated his organs, we are glad that his organs would continue to live in a needy patient”.

Such people might be rare. But, occasionally, we see shining examples. Rainy Joy who parted with a part of her own liver to save her niece, Swathy; the husband and daughters of Saraswathy teacher of Vypeen, who decided to donate her organs on her brain death. Such selfless sacrifices wouldn’t be in vain. It would inspire hundreds of others and would further bolster the organ donation movement. Their acts need to be recognized.

The K. Chittilappilly Foundation, of which I am the Chairman, would be honoring them all at an ‘Organ Donation Awareness Program’. The Foundation has been incorporated with the prime object of undertaking public charitable activities without any discrimination whether religion, caste, creed or gender. The program would be held at Hotel Renai, Palarivattom, Kochi on 25.8.2012. Shri. V. S. Sivakumar, Hon’ble Minister for Health will be the Chief Guest. Smt. Rainy Joy will also be awarded an amount of Rs 5 Lakhs, at the function, as a token of appreciation of her selfless act. The ‘Organ Donation Awareness Program’ seeks to be a confluence of all those who promote organ donation. Let’s spread the message……
DONATE ORGANS. DONATE LIFE.

Your activities are highly appreciated.
Your kidney donation had helped to remove the fear and misconception from the minds of many people, regarding organ donation.
Also, the case of Swathy had proved that all are ready to help and support, for a real cause.
